Info For New Students

Congratulations on your decision to come to Chatswood High School in 2008. Following is some useful information for new students and parents, particularly Year 7 students. For more information, you can look at the Students' Handbook.

(Year 7 & new enrolments only)

The first day of school for Year 7s will be an Orientation Day starting with registration at 9.00am and a formal welcome and introduction to staff in the school hall at 9.30am. Parents are welcome to stay for this session if they wish and join other parents for morning tea at around 10.20am.

What to bring

Students should bring a snack and drink, notepad or exercise book and pen/pencil. There will be a free lunchtime BBQ for Year 7 students. Also, there will be a 'year' meeting with your year adviser, timetable discussion, and general orientation to the school.

Second day of school...Thursday 31 January 2008
(All students will be back at school)

Please bring a book for each timetabled subject, and pens/pencils, lunch, etc.

Your Year Adviser

Ms Nancy Lloyd-Green is the Year Adviser for Year 7 2008. Each year group is assigned a teacher who is then their year adviser from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Uniform

Special Opening Hours

Thereafter: Thursdays 8.00 am to 11.15 am

More information about the Uniform Shop including a price list is available here.

Sun Safety

Chatswood High School encourages broad-brimmed hats as the preferred style of hat for sun safety, however 'baseball' style caps can be worn outside the classroom provided they are either blue, black or white.

Backpack Management

Starting High Schools means more books to carry and a sturdy, well-constructed backpack (correctly carried) is one way to handle the extra load. It is also important to carry only what you need to school, therefore students should re-pack their backpack each day, according to their timetable requirements on that day.

The P&C Association looked into the issue of student backpack loads. Read the summary here (pdf)
