Music Department

Chatswood High School offers students a wide variety of musical studies. The school is renowned for its exceptional music groups, excellent staff and enviable facilities, which include a networked purpose-built SoundHouseTM (pictured right) for music composition using music keyboards and computers. The SoundHouse is managed by Ms Brionna Gill.

Music plays an important role in our school life and is studied by all students in Years 7 and 8. In Years 9 to 12, Music is an elective subject.

The Music Department offers many extra-curricular opportunities for interested and talented musicians. These currently include two concert bands, a stage band, a string ensemble, a guitar ensemble and a choir. Groups are formed according to student interest and demand. Mr Gavin Staines has been the Music Director at Chatswood High School since 1980. He set up the school's first concert band in 1980 and in 1982 began the school's first Stage Band.

Instrument Hire

Any student at Chatswood High School can hire a musical instrument; the current cost is $180 for the year. A wide variety of instruments are available.
