Computing Studies
Our emphasis on creativity in computing has enabled many students to commence rewarding careers in related industries. The skills they have acquired have been in demand in web-based, film and multimedia industries.
Our facilities
The school has four computer resource rooms, a multimedia laboratory, music SoundHouse and numerous workstations throughout the school. The Department of Education manages a four year lease cycle for all computers and as a result our resource rooms have the latest workstations with fast Internet access at all times.
The school has a cross platform policy to provide students with the broadest experience in computing with the latest Macintosh and PCs available throughout the school.
Our special purpose multimedia room boasts high-end software and powerful workstations as well as scanners, class sets of graphics tablets, CD burners and digital cameras providing video editing, image and sound editing and multimedia and web authoring.
Popular software available for student use include:
- Adobe Flash
- Adobe Director
- Adobe PhotoShop
- Adobe Dreamweaver
- Adobe InDesign
- Robotics programming
- 3D modelling software and much more
Our teaching staff
The school has extensive expertise among the computing teaching staff. At a time when many schools have difficulty staffing computing courses adequately we have staff whose accumulated skills include specialist TAFE certification for the ITS course, industry programming experience, HSC marking, textbook and resource authorship for the subject, tertiary teacher training and many years recent industry experience in computing.
Access
The rooms are available to students both at lunchtime and after school.
Our facilities are used extensively and much creative work is completed outside the timetable with teachers available to assist. All students have secure server access and password protected storage.
